DeAnna: mind over heart? over hormones?

A well known professor once told me that he estimates each person has three soulmates east of the Mississippi. (The university is located on the East Coast.) And watching DeAnna, you have to see that she could potentially be happy with a couple of these men. The whole process is self-selecting. The contestants WANT to fall in love with a beautiful girl on a collection of romantic dates. But DeAnna does look like she's "falling," with her emotions, for two guys. Editing aside, she genuinely sounds like she loves them both. After watching tonight's episode, I happened to be in a bookstore meeting a friend. I perused the relationship aisle. There are plenty of books about "Mr. Right," deciding if you should stay in a relationship, how to capture the man of your dreams. Obviously, no one has solved the problem that is love. And what parts of mind, heart, and hormone combine to create the euphoric feeling captured in wedding photographs. But one thing is for sure: it is worth it. So if you find it, or decide to have it, in DeAnna's case, hold on to it. And neither type of love is more legitimate. There's someone for everyone, so don't think it couldn't happen to you.

I work for Michael Scott

Last Friday, my boss compared our work, giving out grants to other non-profit organizations so that they can buy books to give to underprivileged children and motivate literacy, to working at McDonald's. In today's meeting, she called us "line workers." And inferred that we were "babies" needing to be coddled because we asked for standardized and clarified policies. She constantly refers to herself as "your boss's boss's boss," a title of preposterous proportions in a department of less than 30 people. Her Dwight Schrute counterpart, the defensive and utterly unintelligent director of the department, has been promoted out of loyalty and lack of brains to question bad decisions. Clearly it's time to move on...as I've known for months.

Will DeAnna find love?

My latest favorite television show....The Bachelorette! Watching DeAnna make these men jump and run for her is so much fun! She's not afraid to drive fast or be the boss or tell people what she wants. But obviously the best part of the show is watching the guys analyzing her actions and the relationships between them all. How often do guys do this in real life?
The Bachelorette throws everyone for a loop by cozying up to Sean. Does anyone else remember that this guy kicked a cup off Jesse's head in the first episode? Maybe she digs the protective type.
Jason looks better with a hat on. Jesse didn't step up and DeAnna didn't get her kiss.
We'll see how far sexual attraction goes as Graham stays in the competition despite scaring her with lack of experience.
And she picks Jesse over Sean. He did seem to want a wife, not DeAnna. But the other three are predictable. Can't wait to see the home visits next week!
